Lyman crafts traditional quality into all pistol die sets at a non-premium price. Only solid, premium Tungsten Carbide sizing rings are used in Lyman deluxe three die and four die pistol sets. All Lyman pistol die sets feature a one piece solid decapping rod made from hardened, heat treated tool steel that will not crack, even when depriming cases with crimped primer pockets.
Premium Carbide 4-Die Sets If you’re looking for one die set that will meet all your pistol reloading needs, Lyman’s Premium 4-Die Set is for you. 4-Die Sets feature a separate taper crimp die and powder charge/expanding die. The powder charge/expand die has a special hollow 2-step neck expanding plug which allows powder to flow through the die from a powder measure directly into the case. The powder charge/expanding die has a standard 7/8 x 14 thread and will accept Lyman’s 55 Powder Measure, or most other powder measures.
3-Die Carbide Pistol Die Sets Lyman was the originator of the Tungsten Carbide (T-C) sizing die and “Multi” concept with the addition of extra seating screws for pistol die sets. Rifle Die Sets Lyman precision rifle dies are manufactured on state of the art computer controlled equipment insuring that each die is chambered perfectly, and has a super smooth micro finish. Each sizing die for bottlenecked rifle cartridges is then carefully vented. This vent hole is precisely placed to prevent air traps that can damage cartridge cases. Lyman quality does not stop here. Each sizing die is polished then heat treated for toughness. It then receives a final hand polish for extra smoothness. The bullet seating die is chambered as precisely as the sizing die. Fine adjustment threads on the bullet seating stem allow for precision adjustments of bullet seating depth with perfect bullet to case alignment. Remember, Lyman dies fit all popular presses using industry standard 7/8" x 14 threads, including RCBS, Lee, Hornady, Dillon, Redding and others. Rifle 2-Die Sets Set consists of a full length resizing die with decapping stem and neck expanding button and a bullet seating die. These die sets are the reloader’s best choice for loading jacketed bullets in bottlenecked rifle cases. For those who load cast bullets, we suggest the addition of a neck expanding die, available separately.
Rifle 3-Die Sets Straight wall rifle cases require these three die sets consisting of a full length resizing die with decapping stem, a two step neck expanding (M) die (described on page 10) and a bullet seating die. These sets are ideal for loading cast bullets due to the inclusion of the neck expanding die.
Neck Size 2-Die Set These sets are offered for the accuracy-conscious reloader who wants to retain the fireformed dimensions of his cases. #310 Tool Set Pouch
The Two-Step Neck-Expanding (M) Die Improves accuracy of cast and jacketed bullet reloads. Doesn’t stretch cases as does standard expander button. Extends case life. Many reloaders consider Lyman’s Neck Expanding (M) Die a valuable tool for improving the accuracy of their reloads. The die’s expander plug has two steps. (See illustration)
1) The first step expands the inside of the case neck to just under bullet diameter for precise case neck tension in the finished reload. (See Illus. A.) 2) The second step expands the case mouth to bullet diameter or slightly over. This allows the jacketed or cast bullet to be started perfectly centered in the case mouth and properly aligned with the axis of the case neck. (See Illus. B.) NOTE: By adjusting the neck expanding plug slightly deeper, Step 2 also provides a slight flaring of the case mouth for reloaders using cast bullets. (See Illus. C.)

Taper Crimp Die AA Taper Crimp dies apply the proper taper crimp to pistol cases. Essential for proper function in auto pistols. Unlike some other die manufacturers, we feel that taper crimping is best done in a single purpose die station. Just add the taper crimp die to your current die set for a complete progressive reloading die set. Each Taper Crimp die is heat treated to an RC50 minimum surface hardness. Pistol rods are available in two styles; our original (threaded) rod unit with replaceable decapping pins and our new one piece system. This new decapping rod is a stronger one piece design with a hardened pin. All pistol dies are currently equipped with this rod. Rifle dies now have an improved centering system requiring two different decapping rod lengths, 3-1/2" or 4-¼", depending on caliber of the die.
